This course is the next level to the initial daVinci technical training and is led by two academic thoracic surgeons with extensive experience in robotic surgery. The program provides a detailed review of robotic thoracic procedures the include: didactic lectures, live-case observations (2 robotic lobectomies), a dry-lab as well as a hands-on human cadaveric laboratory. The curriculum includes: surgical indications, patient positioning, port placement, robotic docking, instrumentation and the technical aspects a pulmonary lobectomy and thymectomy. The course also provides open round-table discussions with the two thoracic surgeons, as well as, discussions on the tips & pitfalls of establishing a successful robotics program.
