2018 Glucommander Anesthesia Education (Enduring)

Glucommander is a computer guided glycemic management system. This module discusses glycemic management and the provider ordering of the Glucommander software.


At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
  1. Outline indications for glucommander's use in the cardiovascular operating room.
  2. Recognize the appropriate glucommander for Target Range and Multiplier when starting pre-op or post-op cardiovascular surgery.
  3. Identify the indications and timing for conversion from IV to subcutaneous insulin therapy.
  4. Identify the velocity of the blood glucose change in the cardiovascular operating room depending on the level of vasopressor support (among other factors).
  5. Clarify the workflow in the glucommander software in order to select Target Range and Multiplier, and to enter a blood glucose.
