Overview
This activity discusses the clinical presentation and management of a survival case of primary amoebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).

Objectives

At the end of this course, participants should be able to:
  1. Review the basic biology of Naegleria fowleri.
  2. Identify the US epidemiology of Naegleria fowleri.
  3. Recognize the importance of being aware of the chart information when the specimen(s) arrive, signs and symptoms, and exposure history.
  4. Review the educational video for medical technologists.
  5. Examine the clinical presentation of PAM.
  6. Describe the treatment regimen of PAM.
