This lecture is intended to allow physicians to improve their knowledge on identifying and managing victims of domestic violence, intimate partner violence and the growing numbers in human trafficking. Recent studies show only 40% of women and 27% of men were screened for domestic violence last year but 88% of survivors were seen by healthcare providers and none were identified.

This course meets the State of Florida requirements for physicians on Domestic Violence.

The attendee should be able to:

  1. Define domestic violence (DV) and human trafficking (HT), compare and contrast.
  2. Recognize the common indicators for domestic violence and human trafficking.
  3. Increase awareness so providers are better able to identify.
  4. Discuss Florida reporting requirements for domestic violence and human trafficking.
  5. Identify community resources for patients impacted by violence and abuse.
